Profile Member: Mariko Shinoda

Mariko Shinoda (篠田 麻里子 Shinoda Mariko?, born March 11, 1986 in Maebaru, Fukuoka, Japan) is a singer, actress, fashion model, and one of members of the Japanese Idol group AKB48

Life and career

In October 2005 she failed an audition to be one of founding members of AKB48. She started working at a café in then-Akihabara 48 Theater (renamed and currently known as the "AKB48 Theater") as a staff member. Although she was not a member of AKB48, she won a popularity contest voted on by fans visiting the theater. Hearing that, Yasushi Akimoto, General Producer of AKB48, came to her and gave her conditional permission to join AKB48 if she could remember and perform all 12 songs and choreographies performed at the theater in 4 days. She did nothing but practice for next 4 days and made her debut on January 22, 2006.
She is part of the "Senbatsu" group in the most singles released as AKB48, since AKB48's 1st single under major label, "Aitakatta".
From March 30, 2011, she started hosting a show with her own name, "Mariko-sama no Orikou sama" (麻里子様のおりこうさま!?) on NHK.

Yuko Oshima

Profile Member: Atsuko Maeda

Atsuko Maeda (前田 敦子 Maeda Atsuko?, born July 10, 1991 in Ichikawa, Chiba) was a member of the Japanese Idol group AKB48. She was in Team A and one of the most prominent members in the group, being voted number one in the 2009 and 2011 Senbatsu Elections. In the 2010 Senbatsu Election, however, she lost to fellow member Yuko Oshima, who was the lead for their 17th Single: Heavy Rotation. She was part of the "Senbatsu" group which consists of AKB48 members that are featured in their most recent singles. On Sunday 25th March, 2012, she announced her retirement or 'graduation' from the group

AKB48

AKB48 released "Aitakatta" on the major label Defstar Record. Before this release, two singles were released as independent records. For this song, 20 members were selected from the 36 members of Team A & Team K. Maeda was one of these selected members, and she performed a leading role in the promotional video of this song. She has appeared at the front of every single ever since.
The group's 12th single, "Namida Surprise!", included voting tickets for the 2009 AKB48 Senbatsu Election, where fans can vote for who will be featured in the next single. Maeda won with 4630 votes, becoming AKB48's most popular member and frontgirl for their 13th single, "Iiwake Maybe". However, in 2010, another election was held and Maeda lost to Yuko Oshima, who had 31,448 votes, whereas Maeda had 30,851 votes, so Yuko became the frontgirl for "Heavy Rotation".
Later that year a different type of election was held (AKB48 Janken Senbatsu Tournament) where any member in the group could be front girl. The members were selected by using the rock-paper-scissor method and Mayumi Uchida received the top spot of AKB48's single "Chance no Junban" which marked the first time a relatively unknown member has been at the front of a single. Maeda and Yuko were back at the front spots for the next single, "Beginner".
In 2011, a third AKB48 senbatsu election was held. During the early results,Yuko Oshima was leading with first place. However in the final results Maeda won first place with 139,892 votes whereas Yuko Oshima had 122,843 votes beating her with 17049 votes.
On 25th March 2012, during an AKB48 Concert at the Saitama Super Arena, Maeda announced that she will be graduating from AKB48 soon.

As a solo singer

On April 23, 2011, it was announced by Maeda herself at AKB48's handshake event in Nagoya Dome that she would make her solo debut with her debut single "Flower", one of the insert songs for Moshidora, a movie in which Maeda plays the leading role, released on June 22, 2011. She is the second AKB48 member to release a solo single after Tomomi Itano with the single "Dear J".

Acting career

In 2007, Maeda played the sub-leading role in the movie "Ashita no Watashi no Tsukurikata" (「あしたの私のつくり方」?), which was her first performance as an actress. She started shooting this film August 20, 2006 and finished it in late September. After that, she landed various TV drama roles, including lead roles in the dramas "Majisuka Gakuen" and "Q-10."
Maeda, along with fellow AKB member Minegishi Minami, starred in Moshidora, a film released on June 4, 2011, marking her first lead role as a movie actress. Moshidora is a movie about how a weak high school baseball team's caretaker named Minami Kawashima that Maeda plays leads the team to the National High School Baseball Championship by learning strategies from Peter Drucker's business book Management.
In 2011, she played Mizuki Ashiya in Hanazaki no Kimitachi e, a remake of the popular 2007 Drama Series.

Profile Member: Kojima Haruna

Haruna Kojima (小嶋陽菜 Kojima Haruna?, born April 19, 1988 in Saitama Prefecture, Japan) is a singer, actress, and a member of idol group AKB48 under Team A.

Career

Kojima started her career as a member of Angel Eyes, an idol group under Stardust Promotion that disbanded in 2001. Initially, she was under contract with Stardust Promotion when she was still with Angel Eyes, but later switched to Ogi Production and stayed with the agency ever since.
Kojima participated in the first AKB48 audition in July 2005, which she passed along with 23 other participants, because the application was just taking a self image by a mobile phone and e-mail it, and assuming that she "could take 10-time prettier one, and just sent". Although she voluntarily applied for the audition and passed, she was still looking at then-AKB48 project in a suspicious way, and tried to skip the very first dancing lesson because of her then-part time job, but eventually participated it in response to the persuasion by Tomonobu Togasaki, Manager of AKB48 Theater. The group made their debut in December of the same year, and Kojima was assigned as one of the 20 members of Team A; the number later dropped down to 16 but Kojima remained as a member. In the past few years, she had made several appearances on television with the group, and is the only member to participate on the A-sides in all of the group's singles, making her one of the most visible figures in the group. Kojima made her first appearance on Kohaku Uta Gassen, an annual music show where the most successful artists of the year are invited, with AKB48 on December 31, 2007.
Since 2007, Kojima has been actively exploring a possible acting career, and has made several appearances in a number of dramas and movies. Her first lead role came in the drama Coin Locker Monogatari (コインロッカー物語?, literally Coin Locker Story), which was filmed and aired in early 2008. Additionally, Kojima made her first appearance on the silver screen in the horror movie Densen Uta (伝染歌?), along with several fellow AKB48 members. The group has also made brief appearance at the beginning of the movie in a live performance.
She dropped out of high school at the age of 16 due to school regulation which does not allow students to work in the entertainment industry.

She was described as the "eldest daughter of the 48 sisters (48人姉妹の長女?)" in the group by Yasushi Akimoto during an interview carried out by the Nippon Television network in June 2010.Minami is commonly part of the "Senbatsu" group of singers in the singles released by AKB48. 48 Family: if you want to know

AKB48
AKB48 is named after Akihabara (Akiba for short), the area in Tokyo where, on the 8th floor of a Don Quijote store, the band's own theater is located. Akimoto's idea, later advertised as "idols you can meet", was to create a theater-based idol group whose fans could see the girls live daily. AKB48 still performs at the theater every day, although, due to great demand, tickets are now distributed only via a lottery.

SKE48
SKE48 is an all-female Japanese theater/idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. The audition was held during the summer and debuted in October 2008. SKE48 performs in the newly built studio in the renovated Sunshine Sakae in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, every Saturday.

HKT48
HKT48 is named after the Hakata-ku, Fukuoka ward of Fukuoka Prefecture, where Yasushi Akimoto originally intended to base the group. HKT48's theater is located in Hawks Town Mall in Chūō-ku, Fukuoka.

NMB48
NMB48 is an all-female Japanese theater/idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. The group performs at NMB48 Theater on the basement of Yes-Namba Building in Namba, Osaka.

SDN48
SDN48 (short for Saturday Night 48) is a Japanese Idol Girl Group, created and produced by Yasushi Akimoto. SDN48 was created based on an "adult idol" concept. Former AKB48 member Kayo Noro was chosen as the captain of the group. In November 2010, the group made their major label debut with "Gagaga".

JKT48
JKT48 is an Indonesian Idol Group. It is the first AKB48 sister group outside of Japan, and it will be based in Jakarta. The group will adopt AKB48's "idols you can meet” concept, and its overall producer will also be Yasushi Akimoto.
